What is BBYO?
According to Wikipedia, BBYO is the leading pluralistic teen movement aspiring to involve more Jewish teens in more meaningful Jewish experiences.
BBYO is divided into Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA) for boys and B'nai B'rith Girls (BBG) for girls. Our local chapter is a co-ed BBYO chapter which means that we do not separate boys and girls, except for a few programs.
How is BBYO run?
Both AZA and BBG are teen-led and advisor-run. Each chapter elects officers with different responsibilities to lead the chapter. The officers hold their positions for the full programming year. There are also officers on the council (the whole state) and international levels.
When can I/my teen join BBYO?
BBYO is a program designed for teens in high school. Members in 9th grade are called Members-In-Training (MITs) if they identify as female, or Alephs-In-Training (AITs) if they identify as male. All other members are called chapter members.
